Dr. Mukherjee's Smithery

Small apps, forged by hand.

Apps that do one thing well and treat what you make as yours: no tracking, no accounts where none are needed, and open file formats. Forged with care, built to last.

From the forge

Two apps. Each has its own website with screenshots, support and its privacy policy.

App · iPhone Duo · also iPhone, iPad, Mac

Büechli

A notebook that feels like paper, made for iPhone Duo, also on iPhone, iPad and Mac: a linen cover, pages that turn, a shelf for all your notebooks, and underneath, plain Markdown files in your own iCloud Drive.

App · Coming soon

RingIo

Your photos, sorted and shared with the people who matter. Swipe to keep the best and share them automatically with your circles, device to device, with no server in between.

Principles

What every piece from this workshop has to live up to.

  1. Yours, not ours

What you create stays on your devices or in your own cloud. No tracking, no analytics, no advertising, no data sold or shared.

  2. Open formats

Your work lives in files other programs can read. Should one of our apps ever disappear, your work stays with you.

  3. One thing, done well

Each app solves one problem completely, with the feel of a well-made tool rather than a feature list.

  4. Built to last

Typed, tested code in Rust, Swift, Kotlin and Flutter, native on every device, with as few dependencies as the job allows.

Dr. Patrick Mukherjee · Founder

The Smithery was founded in 2024 by Patrick Mukherjee: PhD in distributed systems, twenty years in software, most recently CIO and CTO on the executive boards of Swiss companies.

After years of leading teams that built other people's products, he now builds his own — end to end, with an AI-native workflow that lets one person ship what used to take a team. Every app is one he wanted for himself.

Contact

Email is the fastest way to reach us, including for problems with an app. Every message is read by the person who built it.
